Make Their First Birthday One To Remember!
During the first year of your child's life, it's a given that you'll face overwhelming times. As you watch your little one develop and learn and grow, it's unbelievable to think that they had at one time fit inside you! Eventually though, you learn to become a little more relaxed, and go with the flow. About the moment that you start becoming comfortable, it's time to plan your baby's first birthday. If this is your first child, it will certainly be an educational and exciting time for you. If he has siblings, however, the task may seem a little more daunting when trying to make sure everyone is included. Because it's a first birthday, lots of fun and creativity can absolutely be put into it and still be fun for the many adults who'll no doubt attend as well. Theme parties are a fabulous idea for children.
There are plenty of T.V. shows out now that we can base our children's parties on. Some of my son's favorite shows are Sesame Street and Blues Clues. He loves the bright colors and the catchy songs, so it's easy for him to remember the characters and relate to them when we're in the store. These two shows in particular offer uni-sex favors, so they can be for a little boy or a little girl.
When you start making a list of the appropriate first birthday supplies, think of the guests who'll be in attendance. For example if you are involved in play groups and there will be several children under the age of two, small favors like confetti, hard candies, gum, buttons, really anything that could easily be choked on if put into their mouths are out of the question.
Instead, come up with goody bags that offer safe, fun toys. There are lots of different packages to choose from. If you like the sesame street theme, there are special favor packages that you can buy with canvas goody bags that you can choose to fill with different items like fun star shaped sun glasses, non-toxic crayons, ABC blocks and bubbles. All of these favors are age appropriate to be used as a child's 1st birthday party supplies.
It's okay to be totally creative when it comes to older guests too. You're sure to have a party full of adults as well, so make it grown-up friendly. Maybe offer the parent's a nice goody bag for agreeing to come to a crazy get-together with a bunch of screaming toddlers as chaperones. When sending them out the door with their thank you cards (tip: pre-fill out the cards and hand them out as they leave, that way you won't forget) hand them a nice gift bag with a gift card to the video store to rent a movie and coupon to watch their child so they can have a nice night off together, or just a nice bottle of wine. It's totally up to you how fun you make your child's party. The sky is the limit so remember to have fun with it. It is a party after all.
